Matching Process

I knew that a committee meets to decide on a good match (family) for each child. I knew that the committee consists of, I believe, the orphanage director, reps from ICBF, a social worker/child advocate, and maybe others. But I didn’t know if the private Casas always go in chronological order. I wanted to know that since our dossier is officially submitted, does that mean we could actually be matched at any time if they feel we are the best fit for a child or do we have to wait for all those ahead of us. Below is an excerpt from the emailed response from my agency.

“the committee takes 3-6 dossiers for a referral committee meeting for each child.  Those dossiers are not necessarily in chronological order.  In the meeting they choose the family they feel is best for that particular child.  So again, the process is not necessarily chronological.”

Even though this means it could possibly happen at any time, we also have received notice that there are things going on in Colombia that are causing a slow down with referrals and we are asked for patience 🙁 So, again, I will try to focus on the positive.
