We sent off this package for Aili this week. It will be sent to a courier service in China that will translate our letter and album labels, then send it on to Gaozhou to her orphanage. This will be her first introduction to us. The contents? The teddy bear was made with love by her sister, Raleigh, at Build-A-Bear. The sweet book is an audio book read to her by me, so she’ll know my voice. I made a photo album to introduce her to each member of our family. There is also a pink blanket I bought for her. I’ve read that the little ones adopted from there love having a white washcloth. Not sure why. I guess that’s what the kids use to comfort themselves while there. So I’ve included one with a pink border.
Hopefully she’ll get the package soon, and finally know that she has a family coming to get her. I’m guessing this will be frightening for a four year old who’s never lived in a family or seen one. I’m hoping she’ll understand enough to know we’re not coming to steal her, but to bring her into our family and give her unconditional love.
