So much has happened! We did get the TA call last Friday. Five minutes before 3pm! Boy had I given up hope. But we still had to request CA, so we still didn’t know when we could get on the plane. Last weekend was hard. I wanted so badly to book flights and rooms and get a move on with travel planning, but we couldn’t. Our agency rep said she’d start looking for an email Sunday night (since China is 12 hours ahead of us) for our CA date and would email it to us if she got it. If not, we’d get it Monday morning. I started refreshing my email at 9pm Sunday evening. Shoot, that’s 9am in China time. Definitely possible they were already sending out CA confirmations! I kept refreshing until about 11pm when I decided to go to bed. But I didn’t sleep well. It was only 8pm Cali time when I went to bed, so I knew our rep might get the email before she went to bed. So, of course, I must have checked my phone 10 times during the night. This process will make a mama coocoo for sure.
Waking up at 5:55am with no email was a big, fat bummer. Especially because if I didn’t have it then, that meant I wouldn’t have it until at least until 7am Cali time (10am EST!), by the time she got up and checked email. As much as I wish I was her only priority, I do realize she has a family and a life outside of my adoption and is not staying up all night long waiting on an email for me. She might beg to differ on the me realizing that part.
Anyway…BOY am I dragging this out! She called me at about 10:30am to tell us we have our CA on 12/10! That was our first choice of days!! That means we get Aili on 12/2. Yippee!!
I had the rest of the day off. I went home and started researching flights. I called two travel agents that are well known in the adoption world to get quotes. I was also doing my own searching. Both of them didn’t give me many choices. It was like, ” You can do this one or this one…” If you know me, you know I’m not a good flyer, at all. So some things make me feel better, like first or business class for example. Only that obviously isn’t possible for us financially for this trip. Buying 3 round trips and 1 one way to and from China only 9 days before the flight is expensive enough, trust me. Being able to sleep helps, therefore we got flights at midnight or 1am. Also full flights make me nervous, so the red eyes should help with that, hopefully. I ended up booking everything myself which took until after midnight Monday night. We are flying Korean Air. I read lots of good things about them. And we are flying on the mac daddy A380, which is apparently the biggest airplane in the sky. Ugh, how do they stay up there?? Well, I did get hypnotized a couple weeks ago for my fear of flying. I’ll keep you posted on the success of that later.
Gotta go…got a few things to do 😉
