My girls are asleep, so I’m posting again.
Today we went to the US consulate to get Aili’s visa process moving. It was nice being in US territory for a short time as we entered through a US citizen entrance and skipped the very long line of Chinese residents.
Once inside it didn’t take long to get sworn in that all information we provided is true to the best of our knowledge and gave yet another signature and some finger prints. Our guide will pick up the visa for us tomorrow before we head to Hong Kong to catch our flight. When we arrive and are admitted by customs in Atlanta, Aili will be a US citizen and the customs department will congratulate her and us.
After the consulate we went back to the island and hung out, strolled around, napped, played, and ate. It was another pretty benign day. The weather was great and we didn’t spend too much money, which was nice ๐
As I mentioned, we head to Hong Kong tomorrow to catch our flight to Korea and then home after a four our layover. We are taking a van from here to Hong Kong, which will take about 3.5 to 4 hours. It beats cabs and trains with now two kids to deal with plus all the luggage and accrued items. We leave tomorrow early evening and can’t wait to get going!
Aili had a bumpy night last night again, but so far tonight she is sleeping well (fingers crossed, knock on wood, etc). She is getting much better at signing and saying English words with being prompted. She is still eating like a horse, but she is definitely becoming a bit more picky about what she eats. Perhaps she is realizing that she will actually be able to eat other food soon and in good quantity. When a meal is over she’ll still carry around a piece of food and nibble on it for hours, or keep it in her mouth until she has to drink something.
The long trek in the van, waiting around the airport for our flight, flying to Korea, the four hour layover, and the very long flight back to Atlanta should be interesting ๐ Bring it on…and oh yeah the jet lag, too.
